Back To Normal FSH

Jaw-dropping results at the clinic.

Over three years ago I changed clinics and did my first round of natural IVF. It worked and I was pregnant for the first time in my life. What followed was weeks of dizzying happiness that ultimately ended in a tragic miscarriage at between 15-16 weeks. After a few months we grimly returned to the clinic whose staff were shocked and saddened by the news.

A few days later we tested FSH on day 3 and were crushed to get a 38! (Anything over 10 is getting bad and over 15 is getting really bad). The doctor assured us that my hormones may still be in flux.

However, FSH never went back down. It ranged consistently between 16-30. If you read up on high FSH you’ll know they say you have only a 5% of achieving a live birth from your own eggs if FSH is over 15. You also go by the result of the highest you’ve had.

We focused on my diet, nutrition and working on my lymphatic system. I did castor oil, acupuncture, herbal medicine, hot yoga, and standing on those vibrating plates to cleanse the lymphatic system. I started focusing on keeping my iron levels normal since I am prone to anemia.

Nothing changed for over two years. We did get a couple of blastocytes and I did get pregnant again only to lose it at 11 weeks in January to a problem unrelated to the baby. FSH remained high, the lowest it dipped in all that time was 17. I learned to hope for a 17.

Then something began to shift in my body. My acne faded, almost going away at times. I stopped having backaches and stiff muscles. My health and quality of life improved dramatically. Something felt different. I had regular cycles for the first time in my life. Even in my early twenties I didn’t have that. I would jump between 24 and 40 days.

In June FSH was a heartbreaking 35, but July was 13 and we got a blast. August it was 15. Then, in September it was 11 and in October it was 8! My first normal level in three years. The first at that clinic.

I was shocked. It felt surreal. I know one good month doesn’t mean my FSH is back to normal, but the trend is clear. (E2 was 53).

I feel younger somehow, like I’m in the best shape of my life. I have energy and I dream again. For three years I didn’t seem to dream vividly. I feel like I dream deeply when my hormones are right. My memory and concentration have come back to what they were in my earlier years.

I hope this is a good sign and this is a sign of good things to come. Here’s to hopin’
