The Sand Museum In Tottori

Previously, I posted about Japan’s Desert.

Right next to it stands an incredible museum, a sand museum.  DSC09742

Every year, sand artists from around the globe are invited to use the perfect sand of Tottori to carve out magnificent sculptures based on a chosen theme. This year’s theme was the “USA”.

They did everything from the Wild West:

To Jazz:

And even the US Space Program:

The sand sculptures were incredible.  DSC09776

Afterwards we bought a chocolate shaved ice from a Thailand vendor inside the sand museum and… omg.  I used to say South Korea was king of shaved ice, but step aside South Korea.  You’ve been knocked off your throne because Thailand knows how to do shaved ice.  That was the best I’ve ever had.

Even Trump had a sculpture, but look close at how the artist decorated things.

Highly recommend a visit here if you get a chance.

When I was in my twenties, I moved to Japan and met a man there. We embarked on our adventure through life and love. I have lived with him in Japan ever since. We want to start a family, but that is proving difficult. I struggle with infertility. We almost had a child, but that ended in tragedy. Now we enjoy each day and hope that one day we'll hear the pitter-patter of little feet and the bubbly laughter of a child. In the meantime, I enjoy writing, love, studying, traveling, and working. These posts are my thoughts and stories of my life here.
